The "3-D Zentangles Art Installation" project began in earnest at Eastside High School in early March 2014 with students writing content area vocabulary words on strips of white paper prepared by WPU Art PIR Triada Samaras, Math and Science PIR Dina Scacchetti and SOIT Art Teacher Marilyn Simon.
These vocabulary words included words from: art class, science classes, and HSPA Prep classes. Students were free to use creative handwriting.Strips were distributed from and collected at Mrs. Simon's art room which served as a "home base" for the project. Many science teachers participated in this process, encouraged by the School-Based Science Supervisor of Science at Eastside High School, Mrs. Glanton.
The writing repetition involved in students physically writing the words again and again on these long white strips of white paper reinforced their familiarity with the words, helping them to learn the words, and to be able to use them with confidence later in their respective classes. Below is WPU Math/Science PIR Dina Scacchetti holding some plain strips and a box of completed strips.

The next step of this project was to uninstall the science display case that had featured human anatomy located in the science hall of SOIT. This step was accomplished with the help of Science Supervisor, Mrs. Glanton as well as WPU practicum student Kathleen Gallagher working with WPU Art PIR Triada Samaras and students from Mrs. Simons' art classes.

As noted in an earlier blog post: CLICK HERE and HERE WPU Art PIR and Adjunct Professor Triada Samaras developed this "3-D Vocabulary Zentangle Installation" project with WPU K-12 Art Methods students as well.
WPU K-12 Art Method Students created strips of "Art Praxis" vocabulary words in class at WPU to help them retain this art vocabulary for their coming test, which they have all since passed! They also created artworks with these words, leaning about creating displays as future art teachers.
